Family Immigration Case Approved After 17 Years of Inadmissibility Issues

At Powers Law Group, we recently helped a client finally obtain approval in a complex immigration case that had been pending for more than 17 years.

Background of the Case

Our client, originally from Mexico, was being petitioned by her daughter through a family-based immigration process.

In 2007, she attended her immigrant visa interview at the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juárez, where she was found inadmissible and received a 10-year bar that prevented her from returning to the United States.

The original petition had been filed by her husband, a U.S. citizen, but the case remained unresolved for years.

By July 2024, the client hired Powers Law Group to review her situation and advocate for progress.

Key Challenges

The case involved reviewing prior inadmissibility findings from the U.S. Consulate and understanding how they affected her eligibility today.

Because of the long history of the case, careful legal analysis and communication with the Embassy were essential.

Our Strategy

Our team began by submitting an inquiry with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate to request clarification and review of their previous inadmissibility decision.

After evaluating the findings, we filed a new Form I-130 petition through her daughter and prepared additional filings, including Form I-212, Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission After Deportation or Removal.

Through consistent follow-ups, documentation review, and advocacy, we worked to move the case forward.

The Outcome

On February 19, 2026, after years of uncertainty, the case was finally approved.

This approval allowed our client to move forward in her immigration process and reunite with her family.

Why This Case Matters

Long-standing immigration cases involving inadmissibility findings can feel overwhelming. But with careful legal strategy and advocacy, solutions are possible.

At Powers Law Group, we are proud to help families overcome complex immigration challenges and move forward with confidence.
