Family-Based Adjustment of Status Approved After Years of Delays
At Powers Law Group, we recently helped a client finally obtain approval in a long-pending family-based Adjustment of Status case that had been stuck with USCIS since 2022.
The Background
The case involved a daughter adjusting status through her father. She is a cinematographer originally from Mexico.
Her Adjustment of Status application had been filed by another law firm in August 2022, but the case faced multiple delays. USCIS issued two Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and kept the case under extended verification review.
By July 2024, the family hired Powers Law Group to step in and advocate for resolution.
The Challenge: Risk of Aging Out
A major concern was the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA).
The beneficiary had turned 21, which created a real risk of aging out and losing eligibility for the immigration benefit.
Time was critical.
Our Strategy
Our team reviewed the full file, responded to USCIS requests, and actively followed up on the pending case.
We worked to ensure all documentation was complete and advocated for timely adjudication after the final interview and RFE submission.
The Outcome
On February 19, 2026, after more than four years of waiting, the Adjustment of Status was finally approved.
The approval allowed our client to continue her professional career in the U.S. and move forward with her family’s future.
Why This Case Matters
Long USCIS delays, RFEs, and aging-out risks can seriously affect families. Having experienced legal guidance can make the difference between continued uncertainty and a successful outcome.
At Powers Law Group, we are proud to help families stay together and navigate complex immigration processes with confidence.
